Cattle
Barons’ Ball Tally at $120,000 for American Cancer Society
The 2008 Cattle Barons’ Ball earned nearly $120,000 in
November 2008 for the local office of the American Cancer Society,
bringing the Ball’s five-year total to over $900,000.
More than 400 guests attended the sixth annual
Western-style event at Canongate Whitewater Creek Country Club in
Fayetteville, Southside band Crystal & The Cruizers rocked the
house, and up-and-coming country music singer Erica Nicole made a
special appearance.
The ball, themed “Shooting for the Cure,” included a
host of games and featured both live and silent auctions.
Prior to the ball, the Cattle Barons’ Ball committee
hosted its first ever ladies' tennis tournament and golf tournament,
which together made up more than $17,000 of the total ball tally.
Tennis winners were: 4.0, Heather Goodrich and Erin Skinner; 3.5,
Susan Wood and Tammy Padberg; and 3.0, Miranda Rockett and Lisa
Caldwell. Golf tournament winners were: Dennis Choat, Mike Mitchell
and Franklin Langham.
The biggest winner, however, was the American Cancer
Society, which will be able to use the proceeds to benefit the
programs and services that it offers free to the local community and
to fund research, legislative efforts and education.tion.
The 2009 Cattle Barons’ Ball committee
is hard at work on the 7th annual
ball. For information on how to get involved or for more information
